On July 11, Mayor Catley and the Committee also will formally designate CityWorks, a Trentonbased nonprofit development corporation, to oversee the West Lake Avenue project. CityWorks will join with the locallybased Midtown Urban Renaissance Corporation (MURC) on the redevelopment project.

Together, CityWorks and MURC will solicit local input on the plan and work to keep residents in the loop. Within weeks of the demolition, a trailer providing information to vendors and residents will be placed at the site. In addition, plans are in the works for presentation of the initial design scheme on August 9.

"We have very high hopes for this project because we know we're going to have the Township, the local redevelopment corporation and local residents on the same page," said Tom Clark, Executive Director of CityWorks. "We look forward to working closely with all involved to create a thriving commercial and residential center on West Lake Avenue."

Local residents are encouraged to attend the July 11 event, and Neptune Township's Department of Public Works will distribute flyers doortodoor inviting Midtown locals to join the Mayor and Township Committee that morning. [Please see reverse.]

"The West Lake Avenue project fits perfectly into the Township's plan to revitalize areas that could better serve local residents and all of Neptune's citizens," Mayor Catley explained. "Improving neighborhoods, meeting people's needs, creating vibrant town centers - all of this is part of our vision for the future of Neptune."

MAYOR CATLEY KICKS OFF FIRST PHASE OF WEST LAKE AVENUE REVITALIZATION PROJECT

On Monday, July 11, at 10 a.m., Mayor Thomas Catley and the Neptune Township Committee will officially open the first phase of the West Lake Avenue Revitalization Project.

An uninhabited, dilapidated building located at 1507 West Lake Avenue, near the corner of Myrtle Avenue, will be demolished. Demolition of the building, which is owned by the Township and has been condemned, marks the end of a prolonged period of blight in this stretch of Neptune's Midtown neighborhood. Redevelopment plans for the blockslong area include the construction of mixeduse structures to house retail and commercial outlets as well as residential units.

"We're very excited about the prospects for West Lake Avenue," said Mayor Catley. "By establishing a vibrant commercial and residential center there, we'll be able to strengthen the neighborhood and provide local residents with an improved quality of life."

On July 11, Mayor Catley and the Committee also will formally designate CityWorks, a Trentonbased nonprofit development corporation, to oversee the West Lake Avenue project. CityWorks will join with the locallybased Midtown Urban Renaissance Corporation
